ANHRI: Bahrain: Vindictive sentences against human rights activists, bloggers & reformists Close road of national reconciliation
CAIRO, June 22, 2011
ANHRI condemned today the unfair issued by the Court of National Safety (Emergency) against a large number of activists demanding reform, which came to life imprisonment for about 10 human rights activists and opposition activists, led by the prominent human rights actives, Abdul Hadi Al-Khawaja. That flimsy charges because of their participation in the biggest wave of peaceful protests took place in Bahrain in the recent years, which erupted in mid-February 2011. Since the Court has made unfair issues against dozens of activists, on charges of participating in formating a terrorist organization for the overthrow the constitutional legitimacy, and down with monarchy.
It is noted that The Court of National Safety (Emergency) is an exceptional court has been working out after the declaration of state emergency in the Kingdom, as well as despite the lifting of state emergency since last May, the court is headed by a military judge and civilians did not stop judging the activists.
Today the court sentenced life imprisonment against all of: Abd Al-Wahab Hussain Ali Hassan Ali Al- Meshma’ Abd Al- Hadi Al- Khawaja Abd Al- Jalil Abdullah Mohamed Habib Sayed Mirza Sayed Al- Nori Abd Al- Jalil Mansour Abd Al- Jalil Meqd Sayed Abd Al- Nabi Shehab
and 15 years, against all of: Mohamed Hassan Jawad Mohamed Ali Ismail Abd Al- Hadi Abdullah Abd Al- Hadi Al- Makhdor Akil Ahmed Al- Modef Ali Hassan Abdullah Abd Al- Ghani Ali Abd Al- Rawof Al- Shayeb Abbas Al- Omran Ali Hassan Meshma’
As well as 5 years, against all of: Ibrahim Sherif Abd Al- Rehim Mussa Abdullah Al- Mahrous Salah Habill And 2 years, against: Al- Hor Yussef Mohamed
It’s noted that The Court of National Safety (Emergency), had sentenced several issues were between months and 7 years, but it never before came to life imprisonment. as well as it sentenced one year prison against the young-woman poet Ayat al-Qurmouzi (20 years old), on charges of participating in political gathering and the incitement of hating the regime.
ANHRI said “ The ongoing of exceptional trials and the aggrandizements of punishments against activists, that it came to life imprisonments is a very dangerous matter. It also reflects the declining human rights’ situation in Bahrain, after the outbreak of protests and the peaceful demonstrations demand political reform”. ANHRI also added ” The international community should intensify pressure on the authorities of Bahrain, which overlap all agreements and statements of freedom of opinion and expression as a genuine right of human rights, should not be withdrawal under any condition”.
